Technical inspection is mandatory for all categories of motor vehicles registered in Georgia. Its purpose is to ensure the safe operation of vehicles, reduce the risk of road accidents caused by technical malfunctions and damage to people and the environment.
The process includes a comprehensive inspection of the main systems and technical condition of the vehicle, including: identification, braking system, steering, axles, wheels and tires, chassis and its components, visibility, headlights and exhaust.
It is important to know that periodic technical inspection is carried out in accordance with the regulations established by the legislation of Georgia (№510, №511 and №37). This ensures compliance with a single standard and eliminates a subjective approach in the assessment process.

Remember that if a defect is detected, you have 30 calendar days to correct it. If the defect is not corrected within this period or the vehicle is damaged during the repeated inspection, the next inspection will be carried out again as an initial inspection, which is why the fee established for the initial inspection applies.

How much does a technical inspection cost?
The cost of periodic technical inspection depends on the category of the vehicle and is determined by Resolution No. 37 of the Government of Georgia:
M1, N1 (cars and light trucks up to 3,500 kg) - 60 GEL;
M1 (electric vehicles) - 48 GEL;
N2, N3, M2, M3 (trucks and passenger vehicles) - 100 GEL.
O3 and O4 - (trailers and semi-trailers): 60 GEL.
What happens in case a vehicle can not pass technical inspection? What documents are required?
If a significant defect is detected during the technical inspection, you are given 30 calendar days to correct it. After eliminating the defect, you must undergo a repeated inspection, the repeated inspection is paid and its fee is determined by Resolution No. 37 of the Government of Georgia. M1, N1 (car and light truck up to 3,500 kg) - 20 GEL;
M1 (electric vehicle) - 15 GEL;
